“California`s community colleges are working on many fronts to provide opportunities for our students,” said Brice W. Harris, Chancellor of California Community Colleges. “This agreement opens up a new and optimized transfer path for our students to some of the best and culturally diverse universities in the United States. I thank our nine partners for working with us to make this possible. Additional benefits of the program for students under the agreement include prioritizing accommodation, consideration of transfer grants for students with an AMP of 3.2 or higher, and pre-admission orientation. The goal of the Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Transfer Project is to develop transfer guarantee agreements that will facilitate the smooth transition of students from all California community colleges to the targeted HBCUs. California university transfer students have the opportunity to secure admission to participating historical colleges and universities through the HBCU Transfer Agreement. Through an agreement signed on March 17, 2015 between California Community Colleges and several HBCUs, California Community College (CCC) students who meet certain academic requirements will be transferred to a participating HBCCU. The HBCU Transfer Project is dedicated to increasing the transfer function and increasing the number of students prepared for transfer to high school students.
